An app/website that allows students to form groups based on the educational institute (college/school) that they are part of. It allows students to add what
1. they are looking to buy
2. they are willing to sell
3. they are interested in getting on loan
4. they want to loan temporarily
Typically seniors have a lot of stuff that they want to sell/share with juniors/friends in college. Example: Books, furniture etc. This app will allow an easy way to share what they want to sell. If someone is looking to get a book for a week to prepare for his exam he could put that up on this app and everyone in his group sees the message and whoever has it could lend it to him. It can act as a helpful resource in many such cases.
Currently I want to make it purely an information app where the actual transactions will happen offline. Eventually I want to make it a marketplace even interconnecting institutions based on certain criteria. This marketplace will allow a safe transaction even if the students don’t know each other.
Facebook APIs will be used to manage their college groups. Every time a student updates an intent to buy/sell/share a product a message can be posted on his wall. A user can log in and check what other people in the group are buying/selling at any point of time. There are a lot of features that can strengthen the need for this app. An initial prototype is currently being built. We have also done market research on various directions in which this can be taken after the initial prototype is launched.
